Holding a girl’s hand isn’t a big move like kissing or sleeping with a girl, but it still plays an important role in relationships which is why you gotta get it right.
Just think about it: before you kiss or even hug a girl, you first hold her hand.
If you mess up the first part how can you even expect to get this girl to kiss you? So let’s start with the very basics and work our way up.

1. Keep your hands nice and dry
Super sweaty hands aren’t very nice to hold, so if you’re feeling scared and getting yourself all sweaty just wipe your hands off and go for it.
Think about kissing a girl for the first time: you always want to make sure your lips are smooth and looking good. The same goes for holding hands. [1, 2]
Keep them perfectly “hold-able.”
2. Simply offer your hand to her
Sometimes you don’t have to make things complicated! If you’ve seen the signs that this girl likes you, just casually “pickup” her hand, for example:
If you’re walking on the street with a girl just bump into her “by accident” and hold her hand for a second. If she’s interested in you, she’ll hold your hand too.
If you don’t like the idea of bumping into her, just put your hand out and let her figure it out without you saying anything.
The best part about this technique is that if she rejects your hand, you can easily pull out because you didn’t make it too obvious in the first place.
3. Try cool ways to hold hands
Everyone knows the classic ways of holding hands, but what about the cooler, sexier ways of holding hands?
Let me give you some examples:
- Interlocking fingers
- Over the shoulder
- Holding one finger
- Hold her wrist lightly
- Using both of your hands to hold her hand
Just remember that you might want to keep your hand holding technique simple until you learn how to be confident around women… but how do you do that?

Don’t you agree that holding hands shouldn’t be so formal? Let yourself go, do it the goofy way. For example:
- Ask her if you can look at her hand then actually hold it.
- Hold your hand out and ask her “can you hold this for me”
- Or follow the steps in this hilarious video:
5. Don’t make it a big deal
The last thing you want to do is overthink it and start fumbling with her hand. So what do you do?
Stop thinking that holding a girl’s hand is a big deal for you. Don’t let your mind trick you into thinking that you don’t deserve beautiful women in your life.
You are an attractive guy. All you need to do is improve your self image. Stop thinking of yourself as a needy freak that’s super lucky to hold a girl’s hand.
All you really need to do is offer your hand to her in a cool, confident way that conveys it’s totally normal for girls to like you.
To do this you’ll need to raise your self-esteem by becoming a more attractive man and realizing the value you bring to women.
You won’t be needy, you won’t be awkward and holding a girls hand won’t be a big deal.
6. Holding a girls hand while sitting
You don’t have to be walking to hold a girl’s hand, you can be sitting too! Here’s 2 ways you can hold a girls hand while sitting:
Sitting opposite her
Put your elbows on the table while holding your hands in a way that invites her hands too. If she’s into you, she’ll slide her hands right in.
This is perfect in a romantic date.
You can also put your arm flat out on the table with your hand facing up in an open position inviting her in. Once she accepts your invitation just caress the top of her hand with your thumb.
Sitting beside her
Here’s where you want to use the over the shoulder technique we mentioned earlier.
Put your hand over her shoulder which is further from you and let hand down where she can easily hold onto it. (From her you can also lean in for a romantic kiss!) [3, 4]
7. When to hold a girl’s hand
By now you already know that you can hold a girl’s hand whenever you want, but there are certain times that will make it easier to get her hand, for example:
When you’re about to cross the street you can grab her hand as if you’re leading and protecting her.
Or if it’s a cold day, simply offer your hand to her and let her warm up with you!
8. How to know if a girl wants you to hold her hand
As a general rule if you see one or more signs that the girl likes you, she also wants to hold your hand.
If she laughs at your jokes, smiling when she sees you, or blushes whenever you touch her, she has a crush on you and is waiting for you to grab her hand.
If you’re watching a movie with a girl at a theater and she’s constantly giving you these looks that show how much she desires you, just slide your hand next to hers and voila you’re holding her hand.

9. How to get over the fear of holding a girls hand
Holding a girls hand for the first time can be very frightening, but you need to start doing it now, so what are some ways you can overcome those fears?
First of all, think of all the regret you’ll feel in a couple months if you don’t start practicing with girls now? Imagine yourself in 10 months from now wishing you took action and improved your social skills.
Let the pain of regret motivate you.
Second of all, remember that it’s only awkward if you make it awkward. Holding her hand doesn’t need to be weird or a big deal.
Just think about it: girls are attracted to guys. They want to hold your hand too, but it’s your job to initiate it.
